Background

C.H.A.M.P. Assistance Dogs, Inc. helps increase the independence of children and adults with disabilities by partnering them - free of charge - with specially selected and trained service dogs.

CHAMP also trains and certifies therapy dog teams to visit at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and other locations throughout the metro St. Louis area. Our therapy dog teams reach approximately 10,000 people per year.

Our Disability Awareness Program provides a unique learning experience for schools, civic groups, employers and other organizations. Our education program visits over 7,000 children and adults per year.

CHAMP also coordinates a win-win partnership program with the Missouri Department of Corrections at the women’s prison in Vandalia, MO. Our service dogs-in-training live on-site with selected offenders and learn everything from basic through advanced service dog skills. Our offender-trainers also work with dogs from the rescue community, teaching good house manners and a few fun tricks to increase the dog’s chances of finding a great forever-home in the community.
