Heath at the Stables

Service Dog-in-Training Heath had an exciting day at the Therapeutic Horsemanship stables, where his caregiver Claire volunteers.

He met his first horse (and a very nice horse at that)...

He met the farrier (he's nice, too)...

Next it was off to the St. Louis Bread Company for lunch, where, according to his caregiver Claire "he was called, "Marley" more than once....I thought after his big run at T.H. he would be exhausted...quite the contrary...he was famished and I had to feed him what I could to keep him quiet!"

It was entertaining to watch them get in this pose - each wanted to use the other for a pillow and they went round-and-round a few times before settling in for a full-belly nap. Life is good.

Amazing Pups

The rate at which these tiny creatures develop is nothing short of amazing. As soon as their eyes opened, the pups started interacting with each other as well as with us. They're also starting to play with their toys!

Over the next few days we'll be breaking out MORE TOYS! FUN TOYS! NOISY TOYS! Things to carry, things to climb over, tunnels to go through, things that jingle or sing when the puppies tug on them. We want to stimulate their brains and build their confidence. We want them to become exceptional service dogs.

They still toddle more than "walk" but they are getting around quite well. The fun has truly begun...
