Diane Buhr Engelsmann

Diane Engelsmann has dedicated her career to serving children, families, and the community through leadership in education, communication, and nonprofit advocacy. She began her professional journey with the Special School District as a speech-language pathologist and later became an audiologist. Over time, her career evolved into a variety of administrative roles, ultimately leading to her appointment as Public Relations Director for the Special School District, a position she held for 12 years.

Following her tenure in public education, Diane became the Executive Director of the nonprofit Special Education Foundation, where she continued her commitment to supporting students with disabilities and their families.

Throughout her career, Diane has been actively involved in numerous nonprofit and community organizations, serving on the boards of Easter Seals, Talking Tapes, the Productive Living Board, St. Louis Counts/Ambassadors, and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. She is a graduate of Leadership St. Louis and has contributed her expertise through service on the Congressional Awards Committee and the United Way Allocations Committee. Diane also served as President of the Missouri School Public Relations Association.

Diane earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a Master of Arts degree from Saint Louis University. A dedicated advocate for children and families, Diane has served as a CHAMP Board Member for the past nine years. She resides in St. Louis with her husband, Richard Engelsmann, and their beloved dog, Brinkley.
