Geraldine Halpern, Board President

Geraldine Halpern

Gerry Halpern has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. She brings extensive leadership experience in human resources, organizational development, and strategic planning gained over a distinguished 35-year career.

Gerry retired from Energizer Holdings, Inc. in 2013 as Vice President, Global Human Resources Programs. In this role, she led key initiatives focused on compensation, benefits, talent development, leadership effectiveness, and organizational performance across the company’s global operations.

In addition to her corporate leadership experience, Gerry has a long history of nonprofit service.

She served as a board member for the Humane Society of Missouri and Support Dogs, Inc. (now Duo Dogs, Inc.), where she was a member of the Development Committee. Her volunteer work also includes seven years as a therapy dog handler with her beloved therapy dog, Trudy.

Together, they visited hospice patients and residents of skilled nursing facilities throughout the St. Louis area, providing comfort, companionship, and emotional support.

Her experience as a therapy dog handler ignited a passion for the assistance dog community and the life-changing impact these highly trained dogs can have on individuals and families. She has greatly enjoyed her involvement with CHAMP and is dedicated to advancing its mission and expanding its impact.

Gerry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
