Kathy Howard, Secretary

Kathy Howard brings a lifetime of healthcare, service, and community involvement to the CHAMP Assistance Dogs Board of Directors. Kathy currently serves as Secretary and Program
Committee Chair.
A Professional Registered Nurse and Transplant Coordinator, Kathy has dedicated her career to helping individuals and families navigate complex medical journeys with compassion, advocacy, and expertise.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kathy has been actively involved in fundraising efforts for numerous charitable causes, helping organizations build resources and awareness to better serve their communities. Her passion for service extends to the canine world, where she has participated in therapy dog work, witnessing firsthand the positive impact dogs can have on
people’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Kathy also has experience in whelping and raising puppies, providing her with valuable insight into canine development, training foundations, and the commitment required to prepare dogs for meaningful service roles. Her understanding of both human healthcare and the human-animal bond aligns closely with CHAMP Assistance Dogs’ mission of enhancing independence and quality of life through highly trained assistance dogs.
As a member of the Board of Directors, Kathy combines her healthcare background, fundraising experience, and dedication to service to support CHAMP’s continued growth and success. She is committed to helping expand opportunities for individuals whose lives can be transformed through the partnership of an assistance dog.
