Where An Assistance Dog’s Journey Begins

CHAMP has an assistance dog breeding program. We breed English Labradors from healthy lineage and our breeding females are extensively health and temperament tested. When our breeding females have a litter of puppies, volunteers have the opportunity to join us in the whelping room during weeks 1-8 of the puppies’ lives. This is a great learning opportunity for anyone that loves puppies.

Volunteers work with experienced breeding mentors to take care of the puppies during weeks 1-8. We follow specific socialization guidelines from ADI to ensure the health and well-being of growing puppies while providing essential care and support to Momma during the nursing and recovery process. When the puppies reach 8 weeks of age they leave the whelping room, say goodbye to Mom, and head to live with their puppy raisers to begin their training as future assistance dogs.
